Six Canadian French Voices for District AI
District AI's Cartesia Sonic engine now carries six native Canadian French voices, bringing a Québec business's choice to eight.
District AI's new Cartesia Sonic engine, available as an option on every workspace since September 2026, now carries six Canadian French voices: Étienne, Félix, Julien, Amelie, Madeleine and Roxane. Cartesia classifies each as native Canadian French, and each was made for customer service rather than narration.
They join the two Canadian French voices on the Canadian engine, which remains the engine every new Canadian workspace starts on and the only one whose speech is synthesised in Montréal. Voices on the Cartesia engine are synthesised in the United States, and the engine picker says so beside the option; a workspace's records, transcripts and call handling stay in its own region on either engine.
The engine, its seventeen voices and how it was measured are described in the blog post. To use one of the new voices, open your assistant's Voice Profile in the dashboard, choose Cartesia as the engine and pick a voice.
Eight voices for Québec
Six new native Canadian French voices on the Cartesia engine join the two on the Canadian engine. Pick by role, set the assistant's language to French, and callers are greeted in the French they speak.
